Big Battlefield Ride Review

Back in June of this year Nick Hilton, managing director of Fayrefield Foods who also make Lizi’s Granola, participated in Help for Heroes Big Battlefield Ride to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme and to raise money for the charity.

Under the brand of “Lizi’s Granola”, Nick joined the Help for Heroes riders in a moving and emotive journey through history: cycling in Northern France to tell the story of the Western Front.

As well as remembering the incredible sacrifices made by all those who fought along the Front, they had the opportunity to celebrate the Heroes that are collectively supported by the charity – riding alongside the Band of Brothers and hearing their inspiring stories first-hand.

The route started in Ypres and some 200 cyclists made their way towards Verdun over the course of 5 days.

Nick stated that the incredible and emotive journey was brilliantly organised and the atmosphere was amazing. Ceremonies were held along the way to commemorate the 100th anniversary.

In excess of £600,000 was raised and donations are still being accepted. You can donate on Nick’s Just giving Page.
