Guest Blog: Georgie Hermitage

Georgie Hermitage is a keen sports enthusiast who joined Guildford and Godalming Athletics Club when she was at school despite being diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Georgie is a parasport athlete competing in T37 sprint events taking home the gold medal for the 400m and 100m sprint at this years Rio 2016 Paralympics.

Here at Lizi’s Granola, we were able to get an exclusive interview with Georgie talking about how sport is important to her and how it has helped her through difficult times.

Georgie said, “Sport has had a huge impact on my life not just because of my success in competition but also in how I deal with day to day life. Sport and keeping fit has helped boost my confidence dramatically, I have always struggled in social situations with nerves and being shy, but since taking up running and going to the gym it’s really helped with that and now I’m much less concerned with how people look at me and my disability, it’s made me comfortable in my own skin.”

Georgie is a huge inspiration to many people and we wish her the best of luck with everything else she achieves and accomplishes in the future.
